On To Nationals!

After an extremely tiring week, the students in Junior and Senior High are trying to get back to some kind of normal routine, this would include their real school work. Last week the students were intensely preparing for a Bible Quizzing meet on Tuesday and a Fine Arts and Preaching competition on Friday. The Bible Quiz meet on Tuesday went well as both the Senior and Junior High took first place. The junior high had two close quizzes in which they won by one or two questions. The senior high was on their game and quickly bumped out one of the other two teams. They just had one more team to beat. They got off to a bad start in the first two-team quiz and fell behind eighty to twenty, but they quickly came back to tie it up at 120 points apiece. From then on it was domination as they went on to win that quiz as well as the next quiz by a score of 380 to -10. The students were very grateful to win and be on their way to the national competition in Greenville, South Carolina.

That was the Bible Quizzing, but on Friday they were involved in several different competitions ranging from Bible Teaching and Preaching to instrumental solos. The young people definitely grew in each area as they prepared, and several of them took some top three finishes in their catergories. The middle school top finishers do not get a chance to compete on a national level, but the senior highers will get a chance if they get first place in their catergory or if a person in first or second place from a different school decides not to go. One of our middle schoolers, Jonathan Fuller, did exceptionally well at the competition and was awarded with the following first place ribbons: first place in expository preacing, first in brass solo, and first in Bible teaching.

Several of the senior highers finished in the top three as well:
